Abstract
Malignant tumors of the stomach can be generally classified as carcinoma and sarcoma. Although sarcomas are comparatively rare and comprise only about 3 per cent of malignant diseases of the stomach, their recognition hi important because they are more readily curable than carcinomas. The two main varieties of gastric sarcomas are lymphosac-roma a ad leiomyosarcomas, although sarcomas of the stomach may arise from 3;/nohogeaous, m isc ilar, fibrous, fatty, vascular or neural tissue, or combinations thereof. In addition to reporting 6 cases oi noncarcinomatous tumors, we will present a review of the literature available on this subject because it is important to distinguish these sarcomas from carcinomas in Korea where carcinoma of the stomach is a frequent disease.
